IAIA Shuts Campus After Major IT Disruption

The Institute of American Indian Arts closed its campus this week following what officials described as a major information technology disruption that halted normal operations.

IAIA President Shelly Lowe said staff members were still working to diagnose what went wrong. She said operations should return to normal by Friday afternoon.

The closure affected classes and campus services while technical teams investigated the source of the problem. No timeline was given for when the cause would be identified, and officials did not say whether any data had been compromised.

Students and employees were told to stay away from campus until the systems were restored. The school said updates would be shared as more information became available.

The disruption comes as the institution continues its fall term, with students relying on campus networks for coursework, registration and communication. A prolonged outage could complicate assignments and administrative deadlines if the fix takes longer than expected.

Lowe said the priority was restoring services safely rather than quickly. She asked the campus community to remain patient while the investigation continues.

The institute has not released further details about the nature of the disruption or how many systems were affected. Officials said additional information would be provided once the review is complete.
