Rachel Campos-Duffy: Socialist movement gains power due to education, economic hardship

Conservative commentator Rachel Campos-Duffy has offered a sharp analysis of the growing influence of socialist ideas within the Democratic Party, pointing to two key drivers: a failing education system and widespread economic hardship. In a recent discussion, Campos-Duffy argued that the modern socialist movement is not emerging from a vacuum but is instead being fueled by a generation that has been miseducated about American history and capitalism.

According to Campos-Duffy, schools have increasingly downplayed the successes of free markets while highlighting only the negative aspects of U.S. history. This, she says, leaves young people without a proper understanding of how economic freedom creates opportunity. At the same time, rising inflation, stagnant wages, and the high cost of living are making radical economic ideas more appealing to voters who feel left behind.

She warned that these conditions create a perfect storm for socialist candidates to gain traction, particularly among younger demographics who have never experienced the failures of socialist systems firsthand. Campos-Duffy urged conservatives to focus on both economic policy and educational reform to counter this trend. Without a renewed emphasis on teaching the principles of liberty and prosperity, she argued, the leftward shift in the Democratic Party will only accelerate.
