A massive debris flow and flash flooding along the China-Nepal border on August 26 has wiped out entire villages, along with critical infrastructure like roads, bridges, and schools. The disaster has claimed hundreds of lives, including many young children, while thousands of residents remain unaccounted for in the remote Himalayan region.

The Rebuild Nepal Education Foundation, a grassroots organization focused on getting kids back into classrooms after natural disasters, is now making an urgent plea for international donations. The group says the scale of destruction is far worse than initial reports suggested. Entire school buildings have been swept away, and many of the surviving families have lost everything, including their homes and means of earning a living.

Foundation coordinators on the ground report that rescue teams are struggling to reach the hardest-hit areas because the main access routes are gone. This means food, clean water, and temporary shelter are running dangerously low. The group is specifically asking for funds to purchase portable learning kits, tarps for temporary classrooms, and basic supplies for children who are now orphaned or separated from their parents.

Beyond the immediate emergency, the foundation is already planning for the long recovery. They aim to rebuild at least five of the most damaged schools before the winter snows arrive. However, they stress that without outside help, this timeline is impossible. Every donation, no matter the size, goes directly to the affected families. The organization has promised to post regular updates on their website so donors can see exactly where their money is being used. For now, the focus is simple: save the children, get them back to learning, and give the community a reason to hope again.
