Union Athletics launches NIL education program

Union Athletics has introduced a fresh educational initiative focused on Name, Image and Likeness, commonly known as NIL. The program is built to give student-athletes and their families a clear picture of what NIL actually means, how it works, and what they can do with it.

The effort is not about signing deals or chasing money. Instead, it is designed to break down the basics. Topics include what athletes can and cannot do under current rules, how to spot a fair offer, and how to handle taxes or contracts if something does come along. The goal is to make sure no one walks into this space blind.

Coaches and staff will also have access to the material, so they can answer questions with accurate information. The program will use workshops, online modules, and one-on-one sessions to reach people at different comfort levels.

Union Athletics said the idea came from listening to families who felt overwhelmed by the fast changes in college sports. Many parents had questions about whether their child should pursue NIL opportunities early or wait. The program tries to address those concerns without pushing anyone in a specific direction.

The rollout will happen over the next few weeks, starting with a general overview session open to all athletes. After that, smaller group discussions will focus on sport-specific scenarios. Officials say they plan to update the content regularly as rules continue to shift.

This move puts Union Athletics among a growing number of schools and organizations that see education as a key part of NIL, not just the deals themselves.
