ST. CLAIRSVILLE — A new law will come into effect at the end of this month, mandating that all new drivers in Ohio who are 21 years old or younger must complete a comprehensive driver’s education course. Starting September 30, individuals applying for their first driver’s license will be required to undergo an Ohio-approved driver training program. This initiative aims to enhance road safety by ensuring that young drivers receive proper instruction and experience before hitting the road independently.
The new requirement includes a structured curriculum that covers essential driving skills, traffic laws, and safe driving practices. Additionally, participants must log at least 50 hours of supervised driving time, which is intended to provide practical experience under various conditions. This legislation reflects a growing recognition of the importance of thorough driver education in reducing accidents and promoting responsible driving habits among young individuals. As the deadline approaches, driving schools across the state are preparing to accommodate the influx of new students eager to fulfill this requirement.
